Nanojournalism

As part of the SHYNE Nanojournalism program, NUANCE science content producer Mohammad Behroozian is developing a series of short videos. 

“Photos From the Future” is a video series about the nanoscience research that Northwestern’s SHyNE makes possible. Featuring award-winning nanoscience photos, the series connects young audiences with the exciting frontiers of nanoscience research.

Recognizing that people from minority and low socioeconomic backgrounds continue to be under-represented in science careers, Photos From the Future increases youth’s exposure to nanoscience research and strengthens their sense of self-efficacy in pursuing STEM studies.

Magnifying Minds

NUANCE and Science In Society are partnering with local organizations to increase STEM engagement and awareness of possible STEM careers in youth grades 3-8.

Magnifying Minds is a program that focuses on middle school students and is held during summer programming in coordination with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. The program includes the assembly of a foldscope, a video created by NUANCE along with a live Q&A session with our technical staff on the basics of Scanning Electron Microsc

Women In Nano

NUANCE launched a social media campaign to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8th. This campaign highlights emerging young women in the field of nanoscience. 

Women in Microscopy Conference

Each year on March 8th, International Women's Day, NUANCE and the Microscopy Society of America's Student Council host a virtual conference, "Women In Microscopy".  The conference creates space for important conversations on career challenges, diversity, and work-life balance alongside research presentations on materials science, biology, and environmental sciences.  

Earth Day

We are excited to highlight the work of brilliant scientists whose research in the field of Environmental Science is helping us better understand, anticipate, and mitigate the effects of pollution and climate change.
