NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

Office of Research Summer Interns Tour NUANCE

On Monday June 3rd, Paul Smeets, PhD, NUANCE EPIC TEM Facility Manager served as tour guide to the six interns from Chicago State who will be working over the summer in the Office of Research's Chicago and Evanston locations. After exploring the different TEM and SEM instrumentation and their capabilities within the EPIC  Facility, the tour finished up in NUFAB with Facility Manager Nasir Basit, PhD. While observing researchers within the cleanroom, Nasir shared with the group some of the exciting innovations that have come out of the nano fabrication facility, such as wearable wireless monitoring patches for premature babies and transplanted organs!

We always enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with other offices within the University, and meeting the 2024 Office of Research summer interns was a real pleasure!
