NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

NUANCE takes a trip to Earth & Planetary Sciences

On May 3, 2024 the NUANCE Center had the amazing opportunity to talk to the Earth & Planetary Sciences department followed by a tour.

After a short introduction by Professor Steven Jacobsen, NUANCE Director, Vinayak P. Dravid gave a presentation discussing the different characterization methods available at NUANCE and the important role such facilities will play in the analysis and characterization of extraterrestrial samples in the future of planetary science.

After the talk and a Q&A with attendees, NUANCE SEM Facility Lab Manager, Tirzah Abbott, led a small group tour through our facilities, explaining the different instruments and how they might be used in their research.

It was a great turnout and always a wonderful opportunity to meet with other departments within Northwestern and educate student researchers on our facilities!
