NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

NUANCE Collaborates with Science in Society!

One of our favorite things to do here at NUANCE is to participate in events with youth who might someday be the next generation of scientists!

On August 10, 2022, Eric W. Roth, Core Scientist with our BioCryo facility, presented an engaging program to the Girls and Boys Club of Chicago, in partnership with our friends at NU's Science in Society, for 50 kids! This collaborative program, "Magnifying Minds" was developed as a way to bring NUANCE's nanoscience expertise and resources to K-12 audiences.

Along with the presentation, NUANCE provided each participant with a "foldscope" in which they could get some first-hand experience on a mini microscope that they assemble themselves!

Our technical staff looks forward to this event every summer as an opportunity to engage with local area youth, expose them to the field of nanotechnology, and answer some great questions from the participants!
