NUANCE Fest 2021!
The first ever hybrid NUANCE Fest was hosted on Zoom and in the A/B atrium this year, including raffles, tours, and the annual Art of Science image contest. The NUANCE center hosts these festivities every year in accordance with National Nanotechnology Day, held on October 9th, 2021*.
Tours were scheduled from 10am to 12pm and included all facilities that users, both internal and external, can use for their ground-breaking science. This year, the three different tours split the facilities based on their physical location. Every tour participant received a NUANCE passport containing the contact information of the lab managers of each facility. After a full year of remote work due to the pandemic, the in-person portion of the event was a breath of fresh air for all involved.
After lunches were collected, participants returned to the festivities over Zoom, where the winner of the Art of Science Image Contest was announced alongside raffle winners from the tours. With over 40 people in attendance, the winning pictures were discussed by the artists, which provided insights to both the technical and artistic aspects of the images. Prizes included digital gift cards, NUANCE branded swag, and a puzzle of last year’s image contest winner. For a full listing of the image contest winners, please click here.
