NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

Professor Jiwoong Park Visits NUANCE Center

On Thursday July 19th, The NUANCE Center welcomed Professer Jiwoong Park for a talk on atomically thin circuits and their future technological applications.

Professor Park is a professor of chemistry at the Institute for Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. Prior to coming to the University of Chicago, Professor Park started his own research group at Cornell University in 2006, where he also taught chemical biology and chemistry. In addition to his work in academia, Professor Park is an associate editor of the scientific journal Nano Letters.

The seminar was held in the Ford ITW Classroom in the Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center to a large and engaged audience. After the seminar, Professor Park joined NUANCE Center Director Professor Vinayak P. Dravid and technical staff members of the NUANCE Center for a round table discussion.

VPD Group member Akshay Murthy was delighted to hear Professor Park speak.

"Once I heard that Dr. Park was visiting to give a seminar, I was overjoyed," Murthy explained. "The research interests between his group and our group align quite closely and I was really looking forward to learning more about the recent work that had been conducted in his lab. I really enjoyed hearing his perspective on how researchers can continue maintaining the momentum in the rapidly evolving field of 2D materials."

Seminars such as this one are important to the mission of the NUANCE Center as they bring together professionals from different institutions to share new research and topics of interest in nanotechnology and other related fields.
