NUANCE's Chad Goeser wins Employee of the Year

NUANCE’s business administrator, Chad Goeser, was named Northwestern University’s 2018 Employee of the Year on Wednesday.

Goeser was among seven finalists for Employee of the Year. He has been employed at Northwestern for six years, starting as a financial administrator for NUANCE and becoming the business administrator in 2014.

“It was amazing to be nominated and so humbling to be recognized among such accomplished peers,” Goeser said. “As NUANCE has undergone significant growth, there has been much coordination among McCormick, Weinberg, Facilities Management, Northwestern Research and NUANCE faculty and staff, and it has been an honor to act as liaison for these stakeholders.”

NUANCE celebrated Goeser’s win with a surprise party in Cook Hall on Friday.

Professor Vinayak Dravid, director of the NUANCE Center, said the nomination process required a recommendation letter that was a minimum of three pages. He ended up writing four.

“We are what we repeatedly do,” he read from his nomination letter. “Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit,” adding at the party that “Chad has many habits.”

Dravid also said he often finds Goeser working past business hours and needs to tell him it’s time to go home.

Goeser said he was humbled to receive the award and glad that NUANCE’s team and work was being recognized by the greater university.
