NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

Professor Chris Ober visits NUANCE

NUANCE and SHyNE Resource hosted Professor Chris Ober from Cornell University on Friday, February 23. In addition to his Materials Science faculty position, professor Ober is the Director of the Cornell NanoScale Science and Technology Facility (CNF), one of SHyNE’s partners in the NSF’s NNCI network. CNF has a long history of excellence and leadership in micro/nanofab facilities and has been in operation for over 40 years.

Professor Ober’s talk, “Cornell Nanoscale Facility (CNF), a personal perspective,” revealed many best practices that have made CNF a national leader among open access research facilities. NUANCE strives to keep Northwestern research facilities aligned with our R1 peers across the US, while emphasizing the capabilities and expertise that truly sets us apart. Working closely with our NNCI peers allows us to align with the strategic goals of our federal sponsors and benchmark our progress toward maintaining Northwestern’s research eminence.
