CryoSEM Workshop 2016 Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s CryoSEM Workshop! We were honored to have presentations by the NUANCE Center’s BioCryo facility manager and research assistant professor Reiner Bleher, associate professor Derk Joester, postdoctoral fellow Irene Chang, and Mager Scientific technical sales representative Mike Boykin as well as BioCryo demonstrations by research technologist Eric Roth in the afternoon.
If you are interested in learning more about our BioCryo capabilities, please contact the NUANCE Center at nuance@northwestern.edu .
About 60 attended the CryoSEM Workshop co-sponsored by the NU ANCE Center, SHyNE Resource, Mager Scientific, NU-MRSEC, and the NSF MRI program on Wed. April 6.
Participants could learn about the latest instrumentation and equipment from LEICA at the Mager Scientific table.
The NU ANCE Center’s BioCryo facility manager and research assistant professor Reiner Bleher welcomed the event attendees and delivered the workshop’s opening remarks.
From within and outside of the Chicago area, attendees from businesses and universities gathered to hear the various workshop presentations.
Associate professor Derk Joester discussed his abstract, “The Renaissance of CryoSEM Imaging.”
University of Minnesota postdoctoral fellow Hanseung Lee took notes during associate professor Derk Joester’s presentation.
Postdoctoral fellow Irene Chang presented on her abstract, “Cryo-Planing of Frozen-Hydrated Samples by Triple Ion Gun Milling (CryoTIGM™).
Mager Scientific technical sales representative Mike Boykin discussed instrumentation used for workflow pathways of high pressure frozen samples.
Event participants listen intently to Mager Scientific technical sales representative Mike Boykin’s presentation.
