Optimized 3D FIB-SEM Workflows for Multimodal Materials Characterization and VolumeEM: Spin Mill Method

NUANCE is hosting a workshop with Thermo Fisher Scientific on the optimization of 2D and 3D FIB-SEM Workflows using a novel holder and software for our Hydra PFIB. The so-called "Spin Mill Method" offers new accessible approaches to mill, polish, and clean planar sample surfaces site-specifically with nanometer-scale precision. Newly acquired slices can be automatically imaged in multiple areas, ideal for VolumeEM approaches. Alternatively, the polishing at near-glancing angles can be followed up with high-quality analytical (EBSD or EDS) acquisition.

Spin Mill

The workshop will start on Tuesday, August 18, with morning talks provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific application and product experts and will cover a variety of 3D FIB-SEM workflows for Materials Science (MS) and Life Science (LS) applications, and best practices for use of the Spin Mill Method. Starting in the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to attend live one-on-one demos with the Thermo Fisher experts using their own MS or LS samples.
