REU Students Explore NUANCE Facilities in Cross-Program Summer Tour
On June 26, the NUANCE Center welcomed more than 50 undergraduate students representing multiple Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs across Northwestern University and partner institutions for a tour of its state-of-the-art research facilities.
Participants from programs including the Chicago Botanic Garden, the Center for Synthetic Biology, and Northwestern's Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) explored several NUANCE facilities and learned how advanced characterization and fabrication tools support research across a wide range of scientific disciplines. The tour was led by Dravid Research Group graduate student Elias Kallon and postdoctoral researcher Ramandeep Mandia, who shared insights into the instrumentation, research applications, and collaborative environment at NUANCE.
By opening its doors to undergraduate researchers, NUANCE is proud to support experiential learning and provide students with a firsthand look at the technologies driving innovation in materials science, engineering, biology, and beyond.
