NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

NURPH Students Get a Closer Look with NUANCE SEM Demo

On Wednesday, June 25, students from the Northwestern University Research Program for High Schoolers (NURPH) visited the NUANCE Center for an in-person tour and scanning electron microscope (SEM) demonstration.

Led by Krysten Villalon, EPIC Core Scientist, the session introduced students to how SEMs generate high-resolution images using electron beams. The live demo allowed students to see real-time imaging of nanoscale structures and sparked thoughtful questions about materials characterization and research applications.

NUANCE is proud to support programs like NURPH that expose young scientists to advanced instrumentation and hands-on research experiences.
