NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

All Scout Nano Day!

On Saturday April 12, NUANCE was excited to take part in IIN’s All Scout Nano Day! “With All Scout Nano Day, we’re inspiring young people and showing them that anyone can be a scientist,” said Sarah Petrosko, associate director of IIN. “We hope they consider careers in science and engineering as they grow.”

The program of nano activities for the young scouts included interactive presentations, laboratory demonstrations and hands-on activities across several of the University’s nano focused facilities.  Graduate students Kelly Matuszewski and Mike Barsoum of NUANCE Director Vinayak Dravid’s research group were on site to share some of the amazing capabilities of the  Hitachi S-3400N-II SEM and offer a very up-close look at what a possible career in nano technology and the field of microscopy could entail.

Thank you to the IIN for inviting us to take part is this long running, educational, and exciting program, and we hope to join in the festivities next year!
