NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

NNCI Gathers in Kentucky for the 9th Annual Meeting

The 9th Annual NNCI (National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure) Conference, hosted by the KY Multiscale (University of Louisville & University of Kentucky) from October 28–30, 2024, brought together members from all 16 participating sites to discuss the past year’s achievements, challenges, and future direction. Hosted by the University of Louisville, this year's meeting was especially memorable, not only for its insightful sessions and discussions but also for the celebratory banquet held at the iconic Churchill Downs Racetrack.

The meeting was attended by SHyNE (Soft & Hybrid Nanotechnology Experimental Resources) 's Founding Director, Vinayak P. Dravid, Associate Center Administrator Chad Goeser, Communications & Outreach Manager Katy Dean, and SHyNE Science Content Producer Mohammad Behroozian.

One highlight of the conference was the NNCI Outstanding Staff award ceremony, where attendees, donning festive hats in Churchill Downs spirit, celebrated the invaluable contributions of NNCI staff members.

NUANCE and SHyNE Founding Director, Professor Vinayak Dravid, contributed his expertise to a panel discussion focused on optimizing NNCI Research Communities, offering insights into what has worked, areas for improvement, and suggestions for enhancing the network's alignment with national research priorities.

We are already looking forward to the 10th annual conference and the future of the NNCI!
