NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

The NUANCE Center receives Gold Star Award from the NU Office for Research

For the second year in a row, the NUANCE Center has received a Gold Star Award from the Office of Research. The Gold Star Award is bestowed on those facilities that have been designated an Outstanding Core Facility (top 10%) four or more times. This year’s Gold Star awardees are:

  • Center for Advanced Microscopy and Nikon Imaging Center (CAM‐NIC)
  • Northwestern University Atomic and Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center (NUANCE)
  • Integrated Molecular Structure Education and Research Center (IMSERC)

The awards were presented on September 23, at the 7th annual Core Facilities Colloquium and Awards Luncheon. NUANCE Director Vinayak Dravid was a keynote speaker, along with Alfonso Mondragon, Director of the Life Sciences Collaborative Access Team (LS-CAT).

In addition to the Gold Star awards, the Office for Research also gave out three Outstanding Core Facility Awards to facilities that placed in the top 10% this year:

  • RHLCC's Flow Cytometry Facility
  • Medicinal and Synthetic Chemistry Core (ChemCore)
  • Center for Translational Imaging (CTI)

Three facilities, who placed in the top 20%, were given an Honorable Mention:

  • High Throughput Analysis Laboratory (HTAL)
  • Simpson Querrey Institute's Peptide Synthesis Core
  • Skin Disease Research Center (SDRC) Core Facilities
