The NUANCE Center warmly welcomes Karl Hagglund!

Karl Hagglund began his new role as SEM Facility Manager for the NUANCE-EPIC Facility on January 4, 2016.Karl_Hagglund.jpg Prior to this, he worked in the private sector as well as education over much of the last 15 years.  He has worked primarily in materials research in the pharmaceutical, food science, and petrochemical industries.  He also served as the SEM Facility Manager and Lecturer in the Biological Sciences department at Northern Kentucky University.  Karl has extensive experience using a wide variety of instrumentation.  In addition to standard and high resolution scanning electron microscopes and associated x-ray microanalysis techniques (SEM EDS WDS), he has worked extensively with high resolution cryo-SEM, environmental and variable pressure techniques, and Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (HAADF STEM –EDS).  Karl is also currently serving as the Secretary of the Midwest Microscopy and Microanalysis Society.
